The mini Ti Koi is our undersized titanium offering that provides performance, fun and portability. The project started after our undersized mini peregrine X. That yoyo packs a serious punch even at it's size and weight. Resulting from the utilization of the D bearing. We asked, why not make an undersized yoyo more focused on fun instead of performance?

To achieve this goal, we started with the construction. We decided to use the D bearing to increase power and rpm of the yoyo at a smaller size. Then we decided to use titanium construction due to it being denser than aluminum while not being too dense like stainless steel. To focus on fun, we once again looked into our organic Koi lineup. We think the shape and center cup design is perfect for this project. We have multiple yoyos within the lineup. Like Koi, Ti Koi, SS Koi, XL Ti Koi, and Stingray.

We then set the dimensions of the yoyo. At first the dimension of the proposed design was too small. After some thoughtful consideration, the player and manufacturing team decided on around 42mm diameter by 39mm width. Giving slightly more room for performance and still undoubtedly undersized. For weight, the proposed design started at just under 60g. We increased it to around 64g to just have enough power without the yoyo feeling too dense. With all the parameters set and the design done. We proceeded to make the 1st prototype.

The prototype played great, however we found some minor issues that needed to be addressed. First is the gap width, we found at 4.55mm it snags abit when stacking layers of strings. We changed this to 4.58mm and made the walls slightly lower. Then it's the weight. The yoyo feels great but slightly underpowered. We increased the weight of the yoyo to around 64.5g to have more power. With the tweaks being minor, the team thinks we can go straight to production.
