Introducing the yoyofriends Coalescence, our first yoyo dedicated to 3A and 1A. The idea came from Keitaro Nishimura and many other 3A players in Japan. First, we need to understand what makes a great 3A yoyo. One thing immediately comes to mind is stability. Both yoyos will need to be very stable and stay on plane in order to perform long 3A combos.
For the first design, we based it loosely on the Melzi. Melzi has huge stability even at such a lightweight. We think if we make it narrower and heavier, it will result in a massive increase in stability. For the material use, we used Melzi as well. 7075+SS. We also opted to use an outer SS ring construction to maximize the rim weight.

The prototype arrived. Although powerful, we found some issues and it needs a lot of improvements. One thing we noticed is the durability, since 3A yoyos are prone to hit each other all the time. Both the axle length and the SS ring construction needs to be changed. Instead of the common 10mm axle found on 1A yoyos, we changed it to 14mm to maximize the durability and acceleration.
As for the SS ring. We changed the generic outer SS ring construction to the classic yoyofriends wrap around SS ring. This increases the ring weight while making the weight distribution even more extreme. We doubled down on stability by increasing the diameter, width and overall weight. With all the changes made on the design, we made prototype 2.

The prototype 2 played great, it is super powerful, stable. However there are two things we think can be improved drastically, width and acceleration. After consulting with Keitaro and other 3A players, we decided to increase the width all the way up to 46mm. This ensures enough catch zone for the modern 3A and even 1A trick set. To solve the acceleration, we decided to completely change the profile of the yoyo. It is now a classic V shape. Taking inspiration from the overclock's sheer speed even at a relatively high weight. We decided to base the new SS ring design on it.

The outer SS ring design is now changed to inner / outer ring design. We extended the horizontal portion of the ring for more extreme weight distribution. We have also increased the gap width to 4.50mm for multiple string stacking even with 3A. This gap width also allows for modern 1A tricksets as well. Even though this is a lot of changes in one go. We took a gamble and made prototype 3.

The prototype 3 was outstanding. It is much faster in both acceleration and top speed than the previous prototypes while being just as stable. One thing noticed by our 1A players is that the yoyo is also very good for 1A. It can handle prolonged speed combos with ease. Keitaro and other 3A players instantly approve this design and we are set for production.

We named it coalescence due to the nature of 3A. Using two yoyos and blend them into one in tricksets. It matches the definition of the word perfectly.

We hope you enjoy Coalescence with our 3A yoyo with incredible speed, power and stability. It is also one of our best 1A yoyo around that width as well.
