Introducing the yoyofriends tranquility, our capped organic yoyo built for fun. With many of our projects focusing on competition and performance, we want to do a project that is completely different from the norm. A yoyo purely focused on non competition characteristics. For the profile and the shape, we started looking into the Koi. Koi is one of our most popular yoyos due to its organic nature. In order for us to make something even more fun. We made the profile even rounder and more organic than the Koi. The walls of tranquility are even higher than the Koi.

After the profile is decided. We then look into the overall construction of the yoyo. We think something that is fun and unique would be using a cap on top of the body. We briefly know from experience, having a cap will not only add fun factor, but also add some power as well, due to the cap weight being still farther away from the center point of the yoyo. Strand is one of the examples of that.

We want the yoyo to be very easy on the hand and comfortable. Since this yoyo will purely focus on fun, we will have the rounded body take over the impact point on the user's hand when binding. We also made the cap smaller and rounded on the edge as well for maximum comfort.

Finally the spec. With every design choice going against performance. We would still like to implement some countermeasures. First it's the width. With the profile being so round, and the cap's edge being round too. The catch zone is heavily affected. To combat this, we made the yoyo around 50mm wide. For diameter, we made it a standard 56mm because being a fun yoyo, everyday carry factor is a must. We do not want the yoyo too big that will affect its everyday use. To still ensure some power and stability. We made the overall weight more than 66g. With all the design measurement and plan made. We made the first prototype.

The prototype was amazing. Multiple yoyo players all give raving reviews. They even went to their respective yoyo clubs and received a lot of praise on how much flow, fun the yoyo has while spinning for a long time. We immediately decided to go into production.

When playing with the yoyo, there is no intimidation nor over the top performance. The yoyo simply wants to flow with you. So keeping that in mind, we decided to use the name tranquility. A yoyo built for calm, relaxed situations. The artwork embodies peaceful nature, where you can experience tranquility, just like playing this yoyo. We also did multiple revisions with an artist on the artwork to better fill out the entire cap of the yoyo.
